We leave Auckland for the beautiful Coromandel Peninsular which boasts some of the finest coastal scenery and winding roads for exciting riding in the North Island. Then our tour takes us to Rotorua, where incredible thermal activity produces bubbling mud and huge geysers. We experience Maori culture and join a traditional 'Hangi' feast cooked on hot thermal rocks. This is included in your motorcycle tour.
Our tour then heads to Lake Taupo, the largest lake in New Zealand. Lake Taupo is the holiday playground of the North Island, where Kiwis come to boat, fish, swim and ski. In winter and early spring nearby Mount Ruapehu provides snow sports fun.
There is great biking from Taupo with long straight stretches and sweeping bends through delightful undulations, up and down hills until we reach the vineyards of Eskdale and on to the famous New Zealand Art Deco town of Napier, which was completely rebuilt following the 1931 earthquake.
We continue our New Zealand tour south, passing through the Rimutakas, 
a biker's dream that winds its way through the mountain ranges north of Wellington.
Wellington is the capital of New Zealand. Pretty houses cling to hillsides overlooking the lovely Wellington Harbour. See the famous Beehive building and the fabulous Te Papa Museum. Great shopping and sophisticated restaurants and cafes are to be had here.
Heading north, we pass through the Tongariro National Park and three active volcanoes, Mt Ruapehu, Mt Ngauruhoe (Mt Doom in Lord of the Rings) and Mt Tongariro, where you may see steam belching from the volcanic craters. The road twists and turns through steep hillsides and deep lush New Zealand forest.
We stop at Waitomo Caves, one of New Zealand 's most inspiring natural wonders and must-see destination that gives visitors the chance to abseil, weave, jump and float through a glowworm-studded subterranean wonderland.
Our motorcycle tour follows the rugged and beautiful west coast, a favourite place for surfers as the Tasman Sea rolls onto the deserted beaches. We head towards Auckland, going through sleepy fishing villages and green rolling countryside.
We cross over Auckland Harbour Bridge on our way to the 'Winterless North' and stunning Bay of Islands. We have varied and thrilling biking with excellent roads taking in the New Zealand Kauri Coast, where we find 1000 year old Kauri trees standing 50 metres tall - true giants of the forest.
Views to die for are found in the Bay of Islands; twisting coastal roads overlooking white sand bays and endless deep blue sea dotted with hundreds of lush green islands. We visit Russell, a rough and ready whaling station in bygone years, but now an up-market seaside village with top quality restaurants and galleries.
Our New Zealand motorcycle tour ends with exhilarating riding down the east coast and lovely views all the way back to Auckland to say our sad farewells.
