Zorb in New Zealand

Zorb in New Zealand

Zorb in New Zealand is the latest craze! The definition from the 'Concise Oxford English Dictionary' Tenth Edition: a sport in which a participant is secured inside an inner capsule in a large, transparent ball which is then rolled along the ground or down hills.

So basically, a Zorb is a large inflated plastic ball, with another ball inside in which you roll down a hill, reaching speeds of up to 50 kilometres per hour! Zorb is very safe, as there is a cushion of air between you and the ground.

Why not try the wash cycle and add a bucket of water. Just strap yourself in, then roll down the hill!

Glowworm Caves Lake Te Anau New Zealand

Te Anau Glowworm Cave Trip

Have you ever seen limestone passages sculpted by water up-close? Have you drifted in silent darkness beneath the luminous blue-green shimmer of thousands of glowworms? A visit to the Te Anau Glowworm Caves with Real Journeys on the isolated western shores of Lake Te Anau is a must-see.

Located on the isolated western shores of Lake Te Anau, these caves were lost in legend for many years. Their ancient Maori name Te Ana-au means 'caves with a current of swirling water' and it was this that led to their rediscovery in 1948. After three years searching, explorer Lawson Burrows discovered a stream emerging from under a rock structure. He squeezed underwater through the entrance and surfaced into a cavern shimmering with thousands of glowworms.

Today we know that these magical caves are the lower section of a much larger cave system which extends deep under Fiordland National Park.

Your Te Anau Glowworm Cave adventure begins with a cruise across beautiful Lake Te Anau to the western side of the lake. As you explore by path and small boat, your senses will be overwhelmed. In this mysterious underground world discover fossils and rock formations, and view rushing waterfalls and whirlpools. Learn how the caves are still being carved out by the incredible and relentless power of nature, before gliding through silent darkness to the glowworm grotto. The delicate incandescence of thousands of tiny glowworms is a magical sight.

Milford Sound Cruise New Zealand

Milford Sound Cruise

Milford Sound is simply stunning - a natural wonder of world fame. In Maori legend, the fiords were created not by rivers of ice, but by Tu Te Raki Whanoa, a godly figure who came wielding a magical adze and uttering incantations. Milford Sound (Piopiotahi) is without doubt his finest sculpture.

Whatever the fiord's mood, teeming with rain or with sun glistening on deep water, it will inspire you. Nowhere in Fiordland do the mountains stand as tall, straight out of the sea. In the foreground of the fiord, stands Mitre Peak, a remarkable presence dominating the skyline.

Explore dramatic, moody Milford Sound in a leisurely, relaxed way with our nature guides. Our vessels, the Milford Mariner and Milford Wanderer are designed along the lines of traditional trading scows. They have been purpose built to operate in the fiords and offer a laid back, extended cruise option.

Throughout your cruise, our nature guide provides an engaging commentary about the magnificent scenery and wildlife. Keep a look out for dolphins, seals and penguins.
