Day 1 Auckland - Hokianga 274Km /170 miles 5 hours: From Auckland, ride alongside the remote Kaipara Harbour, up the West Coast and through the Waipoua forrest. This forest is home to ancient kauri trees, like Tane Mahuta that are over 50 metres tall. Spend the night on the edge of the remote and unspoiled Hokianga Harbour, where you can view 300m high sand dunes across the harbour Day 2 Hokianga - Coopers Beach 327km/203 miles 5.5 hours: Take the Rawene car ferry across the harbour and ride to Cape Reinga, the Northern Tip of New Zealand. See the iconic Cape Reinga lighthouse and the union of the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea. From there, head south to your accommodation at Coopers Beach - a favourite holiday spot for New Zealanders. This is your introduction to 'Tropical New Zealand' - known as the Bay of Islands. Day 3 Coopers Beach to Paihia 83Km/51 miles 1.5 hours: Take a short ride through the fruit laden township of Kerikeri to Paihia, the heart of the Bay of Islands. Explore historic Russell Kororareka, the first capital of New Zealand. In your spare time, you can choose from a range of optional activities such as swimming with dolphins, deep sea fishing, or visiting the Treaty of Waitangi House. Day 4 Paihia to Orewa 196km/122 miles 3hours: Head south, hugging the coastline and enjoying views of the Tasman Sea, before turning inland and riding the sweeping bends and fast straights to Orewa – a lovely seaside town just north of Auckland. Stop off at Puhoi - a settlement of Bohemians dating from mid last century. There's an old Kauri millers' pub in the middle of the village that hasn't changed since the last miller packed his axe and shipped out. This is a dinkum Kiwi country pub with no concessions to tourists or townies. Day 5 Orewa to The Coromandel 240Km /150 miles 4 hrs: Head south out of the city before crossing the Hauraki Plains and discovering the Coromandel Peninsula. An area of outstanding natural beauty with fantastic roads. Stay overnight in the beautiful sea side village of Whitianga and have dinner overlooking the marina Day 6 The Coromandel to Rotorua 240Km /150 miles 4 hrs : Ride the circuit around the Coromandel Peninsular and have lunch in Coromandel township. See bush clad hills and enjoy stunning views of the coastline. Take on the Karangahake Gorge, one of the most scenic rides in the North Island, then head to Rotorua, the geothermal hotspot of New Zealand. Rotorua is one of New Zealand's most famous travel destinations. See boiling mud, hot pools and geysers at Whakarewarewa Maori village. A Maori cultural show and hangi feast is planned for this evening Day 7 Rotorua to Auckland 232Km/144 miles 4 hours : In the morning, you can enjoy an optional soak in a natural spa or a float plane ride over the Crater Lake District. Heading north back to Auckland, ride the rolling green countryside through Waikato King Country. Discover the real Middle-earth on the most picturesque private farmland near Matamata in the North Island of New Zealand, where you can visit the Hobbiton Movie Set from The Lord of the Rings film trilogy in a fascinating two-hour guided tour. Spend the night in Auckland and enjoy a farewell dinner where you can say your goodbyes. Your accommodation and transfer to Auckland airport is included in the tour package. -
