Bike Overview
The in-line 6-cylinder engines by BMW are legendary. A legend that has been realised once more in the K 1600 GT - but now more compactly than ever before. 1649 cc, 118 kW (160 bhp) and a maximum torque of 175 Nm. Even the facts are impressive. But the riding experience is even more inspiring. The transversely mounted engine delivers an extraordinary level of dynamic performance as well as refined running smoothness.
If the rider is in the mood for a show of sporty prowess, the engine willingly puts in a burst of speed even in the lower engine speed range, and it is in its element over high-speed stretches. Over 70% of the maximum torque is available from just 1,500 rpm.
Motorcycles can be picked up and dropped off at our Auckland, Christchurch bases. If picked up at one and dropped off at the other a one way fee of NZ$490 applies.

I did a solo late winter/ early spring ride for 16 days through the North and South Islands. Initially I was apprehensive of how I would fare alone but the PMT crew's high standards of organization and planning made this a ride I'll remember. Their itinerary plotted long rides through magnificent scenery while still allowing time to rest and experience attractions along the way and also at day's end. Destinations alternated between rural to urban, meandering over the island and thus leaving no chance for boredom to set in and always offering new experiences. Roads from coastal to alpine were always exciting and scenic, more beautiful than online photos can do justice to.
